Anne is from a family of public servants.

Anne M. Manning-Martin’s strong sense of fair play and justice was instilled in her early by her parents Robert and Margaret (McCarthy) Manning, hardworking, devoted, honest and compassionate people.  Anne was raised by her father, a Peabody public elementary school teacher and principal, and her uncle, a Peabody firefighter, after her mother passed away when Anne was just nine years old.  She learned early that life isn’t fair—and was determined to do what she could to make things better.

Anne is an educated team player.

Anne attended Peabody Public Schools and was a three-sport captain—taking after her mother who also was a great athlete and an inductee in the Peabody High Hall of Fame.  Anne went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from St. Anselm College and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration from University of Massachusetts at Lowell.

Anne is a criminal justice expert.

Anne applied her degrees in her chosen field—corrections—where she has a successful thirty-year career, starting out as a caseworker with juvenile females.  Anne went on to work for the Suffolk Sheriff’s Department as the HIV coordinator and former NAGE member, and now is the Deputy Superintendent for the Department of Correction at the Shattuck Hospital Correction Unit.

Anne is a devoted public servant and fights for working families.

In addition to her success working for the Department of Correction, Anne was also an elected member of the Peabody School Committee for eight years.  While on the School Committee, she fought for the City’s full-day public kindergarten initiative and full-time nurses in every school.  She went on to be elected to the Peabody City Council, a position she has held for sixteen years.  As a City Councilor, she has gained recognition as being the outspoken defender of the taxpayer, a fiscal watchdog, and a fighter for open and transparent government.  Anne fought against the public being shut out of public hearings during the pandemic and fought for the rights of neighbors to be heard and to be treated fairly.

Anne is perfect to be your next Governor’s Councillor

Anne’s education, her expertise in criminal justice and her solid commitment to her community make her tailor-made to be your Governor’s Councilor.  Anne has demonstrated that she has the grit, tenacity, and independence required to evaluate judges so that you are treated fairly when you and your family go to court seeking justice.

Anne’s personal life is exemplary as well.

Anne lives with her husband Jack Martin and their rescue dog, Dolly.  She attends Mass at St. John’s Parish in Peabody, is an avid golfer and is active in local politics. Anne is generous with both her time and her money to charities and local causes, specifically veteran and environmental issues.
